A group of seven parishioners from St Luke’s travelled to central London for the London Citizens delegates assembly on Wednesday 20 November. There we took part in the process which decided that the three main demands for action from the candidates to be Mayor of London next year will be:
· Youth safety,
· Housing
· The Climate Crisis.

In order to help make the Mayoral Assembly on 21 April 2020 as powerful as possible, we pledged to bring at least 20 people along from St Luke’s to hear whether the mayoral candidates will pledge to act on London Citizen’s demands on these vital issues.

The Diocese of London runs an ecumenical link with the Evangelical Lutheran Diocese of Berlin-Brandenburg in Germany. Through this, St Luke’s enjoys a connection with the church in Brieselang, a small town outside Berlin.

 

In October a group of eleven guests from Brieselang joined us for our celebration of St Luke’s Day. As well as attending the Mass and other services, they also took in the sights of London and met our parishioners. On Saturday afternoon they visited the Vicarage for a classic British afternoon tea.

In October we had a splendid celebration of St Luke’s Day. Church was packed, the music was glorious, and everyone enjoyed a delicious buffet supper afterwards. Our nine candidates were Confirmed by the Bishop of Fulham, and we were joined by our ecumenical friends from Brieselang, Germany.
