Mass
The Mass is the main act of Christian worship. Mass is sometimes also called the Eucharist, Holy Communion or the Lord’s Supper – they all mean the same thing! At the Mass, the community gathers to hear the word of God and to be fed on the sacrament of Christ’s body and blood in bread and wine.
On Sundays the Mass is a joyful celebration with people of all ages, we sing hymns, we use incense, bells and music to enrich our experience of worship. On weekdays the celebration of the Mass is quieter and smaller – a chance to be still, to reflect and to meet with Christ.
Silent Prayer
The church is open on Tuesday to Friday, and Sunday, for at least half an hour before Mass. This is a great chance to get away from the hustle and busyness of daily life and to spend some time in peace and quiet. You might only have time to pop in for two minutes or you might want to spend up to an hour – either, and everything in between, is fine.
Holy Hour
For half an hour before Mass on Tuesday the Sacrament of the Eucharist which is exposed for adoration so that we can experience Christ’s presence with us. This is a powerful opportunity to pray and to encounter Christ in silence and stillness. Anyone is welcome, either to pop in for a few moments, or to spend the whole half hour with us. Mass follows to make a whole hour of prayer in total.
Morning Prayer
This short, simple service begins the day with scripture, praise and prayer. Anyone is welcome to join us – some people prefer to actively join in, whilst others prefer to sit and listen to the words.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation
Confessions are heard on Saturday mornings immediately after Mass, otherwise they may also be heard by appointment. A priest is also likely to be willing to hear your Confession shortly after any of our services. Further times are offered during Advent, Lent and Holy Week.
